Buy America Red White & Blue
"We are the land of plenty, but Americans
don’t realize how blessed we are. We need
to realize how great we are, how blessed we
are, and how to love each other," says
George McCrae. "When we got out of Vietnam,
people were not patriotic. When Carter was President
in 1980 and tried to rescue the hostages in
Iran, it was a bad omen for America. This energy
inspired me to write the song, America Red White
and Blue”.

| “It
happened at 3 o’clock in the morning after
recording the vocal for Hot To The Touch. Kevin
Misevis, my co-writer and producer, started playing
a riff on the piano, I felt the urge to grab the
mike, our engineer hit the record button on the
tape recorder and the words and music just came
out of the Red, White and Blue. In six minutes
we wrote this great American song. Unfortunately,
in 1981 no one was interested, so I put it on
the shelf and it collected dust for 21 years.
After September 11, I felt a call to duty to release
America Red White and Blue and I gave Kevin a
call," explains McCrae, who teamed up with
Misevis again. They digitally restored, re-mixed
and re-mastered the original tracks. |
